What is a PMHNP?
A PMHNP (Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner) is an advanced practice nurse who specializes in mental health care. PMHNPs are licensed to assess, diagnose, and treat mental health conditions. Treatment may include medication management, lifestyle and nutrition guidance, supportive therapy, and integrative approaches that focus on the whole person—mind, body, and spirit.
What should I expect at my first appointment?
Your initial session is a comprehensive intake (about 60 minutes). We’ll explore your mental health history, current concerns, medical background, lifestyle habits (like sleep, nutrition, and movement), and any spiritual or personal values you’d like to incorporate into your care.
Follow-up sessions are typically 30 minutes and focus on progress, adjusting treatment plans, reviewing labs, and supporting long-term wellness.
